about

In the winter of 1997, Elia Arce and I went to the Grand Canyon. Joe Garcia had played a piece of music for me that ran through my head the whole time. I wrote the lyrics there. "And when I die, I won't lie down, I won't close my eyes" came from something I'd read that a Tian An Men Square protester may have said.
